The
Basketball Hall of Fame collects, preserves, displays and makes
accessible materials that document the history of basketball from
its founding in 1891 to the present. The Hall of Fame documents
basketball on the high school, college, professional and
international levels, both men and women. There
are 241 Hall of Famers and four teams enshrined into the Naismith
Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Visitors can learn about the
game's original rules, the first paid professional, barnstorming
teams, the size of Bob Lanier's sneakers, Bob Kurland's college
career, John Havlicek's career scoring average and the dimension of
a regulation basketball court...and much much more...

Geisel base known as Dr. Seuss, was born on Howard Street in the city
of Springfield and lived
on Fairfield Street until he left for Dartmouth college. Many of his
books reflect
experiences he had while growing up here .

you will find a Museum in honor of Dr.Seuss the:
DR. SEUSS NATIONAL MEMORIAL is located a the Quadrangle there is a Sculpture Garden with 5
bronze sculptures displaying Dr.Suess's art. Included in the 5
sculptures are a replica of Dr.Seuss himself with Cat in the Hat, 14
foot high Horton the Elephant, the Grinch and his dog, Yertle the
Turtle(10 turtles tall), The Lorax, Gertrude McFuzz, Thidwick the
Moose and Things One and Two.

Here you'll find 14 Galleries of paintings and sculptures of
Fine American and European - including works
by such masters as Homer, Monet, Pissarro , O'Keeffe and Calder.
Paintings are 14th thru the 20th centuries - works by
Chardin, Gericault, Tiepolo, and Corot.
The Impressionist Gallery boasts works by Pisarro, Degas, Gauguin
and Monet. A fine Dutch and Flemish collection includes paintings by
Ferdinand Bol and one of the earliest signed works by Jacob van
Ruisdael.

The Zoo in Forest
Park is a non-profit organization governed by the Forest Park
Zoological Society. Situated in Forest Park, a 735 acre woodland
park in Springfield, the Zoo features exotic and indigenous animals
representing a large variety of species found throughout the world
and in North America.
There are more than 100 species and also a seasonal train tour not
to mention lush gardens for your enjoyment. See the Alpaca, Wallaby,
Cougar, Bear and more of their friends. There are
trains rides, a snack bar and a gift shop too.

Volleyball memorabilia is collected and prepared for exhibit,
presenting
the history and development of the game. The Hall of Fame offers
visitors an overview of a truly Americian Sport. The Hall
offers many different things- an interactive kiosk, visitors can see
video and hear commentary on the many facets of the game or test
their V-Ball knowledge with an interactive quiz; a faux half-court
complete with cutouts outlining the main positions of the sport, as
well a vertical jump tester where future spikers can test their
leap, and an official net straight from the '96 Olympic Games in
Atlanta; an area showcasing the past inductees, with pertinent
information on your favorite volleyball superstars; a gift shop. The
Volleyball Hall of Fame's hours of operation are Friday, Saturday,
Sunday 12:00 to 4:30.
