Theodor Geisel base known as Dr. Seuss, was born on Howard Street in the city of Springfield and lived on Fairfield Street until he left for Dartmouth college. Many of his books reflect experiences he had while  growing up here .

Now you will find a Museum in honor of Dr.Seuss the:
DR. SEUSS NATIONAL MEMORIAL
located a the Quadrangle there is a Sculpture Garden with 5 bronze sculptures displaying Dr.Suess's art. Included in the 5 sculptures are a replica of Dr.Seuss himself with Cat in the Hat, 14 foot high Horton the Elephant, the Grinch and his dog, Yertle the Turtle(10 turtles tall), The Lorax, Gertrude McFuzz, Thidwick the Moose and  Things One and Two.

Here you'll find 14 Galleries of paintings and sculptures of
Fine American and European - including works by such masters as Homer, Monet, Pissarro , O'Keeffe and Calder. Paintings are 14th thru the 20th centuries - works by Chardin,  Gericault, Tiepolo, and Corot. The Impressionist Gallery boasts works by Pisarro, Degas, Gauguin and Monet. A fine Dutch and Flemish collection includes paintings by Ferdinand Bol and one of the earliest signed works by Jacob van Ruisdael.

George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum

This Victorian-era museum displays the exquisite decorative arts and paintings collected by G.W.V. Smith and his wife, Belle, during the late 19th century. Exceptional Asian decorative arts include extensive collection of Chinese cloisonne, Islamic rugs and a Shinto shrine. Paintings by 19th-century American artists including Church and Bierstadt. Also here are
Japanese arms and armor, lacquerware and ceramics and  sculptures of the world from antiquity to the Renaissance, and 19th-century American paintings.

Elegant Beaux Arts mansion, once the home of silk manufacturer William Skinner (1874-1958). Indian Motocycle Museum and Hall of Fame

INDIAN was the first commercially marketed gasoline powered motorcycle manufacturing company in the United States by George Hendee and Oscar Hedstrom in 1901. In its heyday it also manufactured airplane engines, bicycles, outboard motors, home unit air conditioners, and many other items that are to be seen in the museum. But, most of all, it is the famous Indian Motocycle that is still known the world over. Its quality and beauty have never been surpassed. Manufacturing ceased in 1953.

The INDIAN MOTOCYCLE MUSEUM is an on-site viewing museum located in the very last building owned by this world famous company. It has not only the finest collection of Indian Motocycles and other Indian products but, also a superb collection of toy motorcycles, an extensive photo gallery and showcases filled with memorabilia. Other American made motorcycles are also on display. There is something interesting for all age groups, men, women and children

Storrowton Village Museum

Volleyball memorabilia is collected and prepared for exhibit, presenting
the history and development of the game. The Hall of Fame offers visitors an overview of a truly Americian Sport. The Hall offers many different things- an interactive kiosk, visitors can see video and hear commentary on the many facets of the game or test their V-Ball knowledge with an interactive quiz; a faux half-court complete with cutouts outlining the main positions of the sport, as well a vertical jump tester where future spikers can test their leap, and an official net straight from the '96 Olympic Games in Atlanta; an area showcasing the past inductees, with pertinent information on your favorite volleyball superstars; a gift shop. The Volleyball Hall of Fame's hours of operation are Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12:00 to 4:30.

The Children's Museum at Holyoke was ranked the nation's 12th best children's museum - Child Magazine. The Museum is an exciting and wonderful place for children and the young at heart.
